5.10 Brown Trout At CHU
After bunch of events goes on Friday. On Saturday, I drove back to home. Got at home at late night. I was really want to catch trouts for dinner. Since I am in mood to eat them. surely enough, my mind was set up to go CHU.
Since my mind is still bothering me about losing rainbows on 5 straight casts. (from older posts) So, I went there at 11am. Woke up late due to tired from whole driving from NY to MA. Anyway, I went up there at CHU and starting casting spoon/jerkbaits along on shorelines. saw couple of trouts jumping but water level was little bit higher than last time I went there. I managed to walk around and casting same time. surely enough, got hooked up something at 60 feet deep. (I assumed it was Lake trout.. because it was screamer for almost 200 feet before hook come out.) I quickly reeled it up and cast it again. Got another hit on mid column of 60 feet. it wasn't fight at all. I reeled quickly as I could. but same result, hook come out. I gave up at this spot and walked to shallow water that has huge dropoff. I cast there repeat but no takers. Then first cast on shallow water, boom! huge peeled off my line. I tried to control the drag with my hand. Surely enough, fish was calm down and I could reel it back again. However, the fish wasn't give up and I was all prepared for round two!!! able to control the line with half of my line left in reel. then saw landlocked salmon surfaced with my hook. I surely damn reel fast and easily as I could. wicked landed it!!!! after close up look, it was surely enough to be brown trout, not landlocked salmon. WHOOOOOO!!!! I kept it and walked back to car and weight it. It topped 5.10 pounds!! Extremely exciting about it.
on top note, got the fish on two trips out of four trips to chu!
